The original Google Pixel Watch, while having its share of imperfections, laid the groundwork for Google’s ambitions in the smartwatch domain. With the next iteration, the Pixel Watch 2, on the horizon, the question lingers: Can Google elevate its smartwatch game to a higher level? Answers will emerge in a matter of months upon its much-anticipated Pixel Watch 2 launch. Fortunately, some information about the Pixel Watch 2 specs sheet has appeared in reports.

Pixel Watch 2 to get Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 SoC

Brace yourselves for a more powerful successor. According to recent report from Android Authority, the Pixel Watch 2 is likely to be developed under the codenames ‘Eos’ and ‘Aurora,’ representing the LTE and Wi-Fi variants respectively. With model numbers G4TSL, GC3G8, and GD2WG, this new lineup is set to debut in three distinctive models. Notably, the Indian market is also in the cards, as India’s BIS regulatory label is mentioned.

The Pixel Watch 2 is poised for a remarkable transformation beneath the surface. Unlike its predecessor, which housed an Exynos 9110 chipset, this time it is expected to house the Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 SoC. Built on Samsung’s cutting-edge 4nm process, this chip is designed to enhance efficiency significantly. Embracing low-power states like Deep Sleep and Hibernation, it’s anticipated to extend the battery life substantially.

Display and Connectivity Tweaks

Retaining its 1.2-inch round OLED display with a resolution of 384 x 384 pixels, the Pixel Watch 2 maintains its elegant form, albeit with the possible substitution of Samsung Display screens for an improved visual experience.

Connectivity options are also set to receive a boost, with the inclusion of ultrawide-band (UWB) technology. This feature enables seamless data exchange over short distances, revolutionizing device interaction. Google is reportedly exploring enhanced applications, including the potential for a Digital Car Key and streamlined media playback with Pixel tablets and Google Nest devices.

Battery and Software

The Pixel Watch 2 is anticipated to house a slightly larger 306mAh battery, offering a notable four percent improvement over its predecessor’s 294mAh battery. This promising power upgrade should complement the enhanced efficiency of the Snapdragon W5 chip. Expect the smartwatch to arrive pre-loaded with Wear OS 4, built on the foundations of Android 13.

The Google Pixel Watch 2 is on the cusp of its much-anticipated launch, poised to redefine the smartwatch experience with its impressive upgrades and features. Stay tuned for the unveiling of this cutting-edge wearable technology.
