Google had its biggest event of the year wherein it finally brought out the Pixel 6 series of smartphones to daylight. We already knew a fair bit about the newcomers. However, since they are here in flesh, and are the so-called real flagship Pixel phones, the excitement is aplenty. So, for both Pixel evangelist and inquisitive folks in attendance, here’s everything you need to know about the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro:

Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro Features

These Pixels scream new right out of the gate. Yes, I am referring to their fresh design language. So even if you say the camera bump by the back has a touch semblance to the Nexus 6P or fricking Cyclops from X-men roster (JK), I say it is fresh. That protruding panel is apparently designed so to house the new 50MP “Fully upgraded camera system”. More on the camera features shortly.

Anyways, flip to the fore, and there you have a centrally punch-holed display that is AMOLED in nature with a high refresh rate and resolution.

Unlocking the screen with the in-screen fingerprint reader takes you into a nearly stock Android 12 software experience with some Pixel-specific perks. This includes the UI revamp called Material You, faster on-device translation, computational image editing options, and a minimum of five years of software support, among other highlights.

Under the hood resides Google’s in-house SoC called Tensor with a 2 + 2 + 4 CPU core configuration. These will be 2 high-performance cores at 2.80GHz, 2 performance cores at 2.25GHz, and 4 efficiency cores at 1.80GHz. The chip also holds a 20-core GPU, a custom TPU (Tensor Processing Unit) for AI, a dedicated co-processor for security, a private compute core and an image processing core.

During the announcement, Rick Osterloh says the Pixel cameras are “Designed for inclusion at its core”, i.e, for “historically underserved communities.”

Pixel 6 camera features include auto HDR image processing, a “magic eraser” for automatically removing unrequited elements from the images, new “motion modes”, “Face Unblur”, etc. These trickeries are possible thanks to the image processing capabilities of the inherent SoC.

You can gather more specifics about the internals from the table below.
