TL; DR

  • Samsung Galaxy Tab S10’s new AI-powered Math Assist can clean up your handwritten equations and solve complex calculus problems.
  • It will be available via a software update by December 31, 2024.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 series, recently announced, comes packed with a suite of Galaxy AI features, but one that flew under the radar is Math Assist. This feature will allow you to write out equations using the S Pen, and Galaxy AI will not only clean up the handwriting but also solve the problems.

What’s even more impressive is that it can handle calculus problems, which even Apple’s recently released Math Notes cannot. Solving calculus problems isn’t easy—for humans and, I guess, calculators too. Nevertheless, this can be a game changer for students who want help with calculus problems.

Math Assist is a major leap in AI-assisted tools, as it expands over the already good Notes Assist. Unfortunately, the feature wasn’t highlighted at launch and will only be available through a software update set for release by December 31, 2024. Users will also need a network connection and a Samsung account to be able to use Math Assist.

While it won’t be available right away, once it arrives, Math Assist is going to be one of the most useful Galaxy AI features, especially for those needing more than just basic calculations. What’s your take? Does this feature surpass Apple’s Math Notes? Let us know.
