Facebook Portal Go and Portal+ video-calling devices go official

Facebook has announced two new video-calling devices namely Portal Go and Portal+. Among the two models, Portal Go is the base variant with a 10-inch display and the top Portal+ model has a 14-inch tilted display. Also, the Portal Go model comes equipped with features for companies to serve in business activities.

Facebook Portal Go and Portal+ Price & Availability

Facebook has set the price of Portal Go at $199 USD (around INR 14,650) and the higher-end Portal+ is priced at $349 USD (around INR 27,750). The two video-calling devices will retail from October 19 in the US markets and the social media giant has put them for pre-order. However, Facebook has not revealed the availability of devices in India and other global markets.

Facebook Portal Go and Portal+ Features

Facebook Portal Go sports a 10.1-inch HD touchscreen display with a resolution of 800×1280 pixels, while the Portal+ comes with a bigger 14-inch touchscreen tilting display with 2160×1440 pixels resolution. The video-calling devices boast a 12MP smart camera with 125° Field of View for Portal Go and 131° FoV for the Portal Plus. The camera supports automatic panning and zooming to accommodate everyone in the frame.

For smooth noise delivery, Facebook uses AI Smart Sound to minimize background noises. They employ an array of four microphones. Also, the devices can be used as smart speakers as they feature dual built-in 5W full-range speakers and a 20W woofer. They offer music tuning through streaming platforms like Spotify, Pandora, iHeartRadio, Deezer, etc.

The Portal Go and Portal+ devices allow users to do video calls with Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, and Zoom apps. The gadgets support built-in Alexa for voice assistants. The Facebook devices offer enhanced privacy and security by offering to disable switches for the mic and camera along with an integrated camera cover.  Connectivity options include Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.1. The Portal Go packs a large built-in rechargeable battery.

For business services, Portal Go allows firms to create and manage Facebook Work Accounts. It offers features like calendars, contacts, file sharing, chat, and different work-related tasks to bring ease and comfort during work from home.
