Shortly after taking over the microblogging platform X (formerly known as Twitter), Musk fired the entire content moderation team. A recent report by Forbes suggests that half of internal moderators and a third of X’s trust and safety team were let go. However, after facing criticism about moderation, especially regarding handling Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) moderation, the Musk-led platform has decided to hire 100 full-time employees for a Trust and Safety department.

X Confirms Trust & Safety Center

In a few days, X’s current CEO, Linda Yaccarino, will appear before the Senate Judiciary Committee, where she will shed light on the platform’s initiatives to handle CSE. Hence, in an attempt to bolster its position, the company has decided to hire 100 people who will look after content moderation. X recently updated its blog page, including a line about its “Trust and Safety Center of Excellence in Austin, Texas.”

Here’s What The Job Listing For The Department Suggests

Per a job listing on X, the platform is looking for “Agent, Trust & Safety (Content Moderation).” The location for the full-time role is mentioned as Austin, Texas, and the base salary range is USD 50,000 to 55,000. While these are elementary details, the company also elaborates on what the Trust & Safety team should do, including investigating issues that may cause harm to users, such as combating spam and fraud and supporting customers.

However, it is important to mention that X posted the listing more than a month ago. Further, there’s no word on when the Trust & Safety office will open. Nonetheless, given the current situation where X is undergoing heavy scrutiny, there’s a good chance that Musk and Yaccarino would like to get this done as soon as possible. The decision to establish a dedicated department comes after fake photos of a popular musician were circulated on the platform.
