Good news for Delhiites! The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has launched a dedicated app facilitating travel on the metro lines in the city with the convenience of cashless ticketing and more. Dubbed DMRC Travel, the app was launched by the Managing Director of DMRC Dr Vikas Kumar at the headquarters at Metro Bhawan.

The app allows cashless online ticketing allowing passengers to book their tickets online without the inconvenience of standing in queue to get physical tickets. It will positively affect commute time as passengers will be able to book their tickets using QR codes right on their devices.

The app supports payments using wallets, credit and debit cards, and UPI among others so that passengers can choose their preferred mode of payment without needing any high-tech training to generate the tickets. The app lets you browse through the history of bookings and journeys. You can also view all the purchased tickets within the ‘View Transaction’ menu on the app.

DMRC Travel packs in a lot from the Delhi Metro lines such as a fare calculator, travel planner, smart card recharge, and station information. You can view routes from origin to destination as well as information on interchange stations giving you a holistic view of Delhi’s metro which is expansive and spread across 300 stations. Passengers will be able to rebook tickets on the frequented origin to their destination without any hassle.

Delhi Metro is undergoing a massive transformation. According to the reports, 60% of the gates at Delhi Metro have been upgraded to support cashless payments during the entry and exit of passengers. This massive feat was achieved without hindering the flow of passengers during service hours. The rest of the AFC gates will be fitted with QR code scanners in the coming month or two.

As of now, DMRC Travel is available for Android as a friendly ticketing solution. It will be available for iOS as well although no date is available at the time of writing this.
