Vivo has released the rollout timeline for Funtouch OS 14 based on Android 14 Beta. It lists more than 30 devices that will get their hands on the Funtouch OS 14 upgrade in India. Vivo X90 and X90 Pro will be the first to get their hands on the update followed by the Vivo X80 series, X29 series, V27 series, X70 series, and V25 series, among others.

The timeline mentions models that will commence receiving the updates from mid of their respective months. Note that there’s no specific date as to when these updates will be available only on your phone. Even if the Android 14 Beta has started rolling out for say X90 Pro in India where you reside, you might have to wait for a few days as the updates are usually released in phases and not all at once.

Vivo’s list goes on to show the roadmap it will follow for the Indian market. Similarly, Vivo’s sub-brand iQOO has released a roadmap detailing Funtouch OS 14 based on Android 14 Beta in India. As you can see in the timeline below, the roadmap has 16 devices available in India and their respective timeline for getting their share of the update.

iQOO 11 is the first to take on the update starting as early as this month. Again, there are no specific dates available and neither the updates will be sent over-the-air (OTA) simultaneously to all users. Instead, these large updates are sent in phases.

Funtouch OS 14 Features

Funtouch OS 14 focuses on five primary areas – Privacy, Smoothness, Multi-Tasking, Productivity, and Personalisation.

For multi-tasking, Funtouch OS has a Mini Window feature that lets you work on other apps while a small window from a previous app gives you access to that content simultaneously. Think of it as watching movies on YouTube while editing those Excel sheets where you can move the Mini Window anywhere you want. Also, you can have up to 12 small windows active in the background and that’s insane.

You can choose between different clock layouts on the lock screen that comes with eight font styles and color selection. A monochromatic color palette picks up colors from the wallpapers much like Google’s Material You design. Choose between 90+ Always-On Display (AOD) styles from Vivo’s Theme Store.

Using the game with productivity, Funtouch OS now lets you edit videos using new editing tools and export high-quality lossless videos up to 4K resolution at 60 fps. The Chinese smartphone maker has also improved the overall user experience when it comes to the video player. Motion Blur is another feature that offers smooth animations when switching between apps.

Funtouch OS offers a RAM Saver that can help you gain up to 600MB of space by closing previous applications. An Extended RAM 3.0 feature lets you keep up to 36 apps active in the background thanks to 12GB of RAM onboard.

App Retainer, another feature onboard Funtouch OS now lets you whitelist 100+ apps that are in the background ready to open exactly where you left it. This ensures continuity rather than starting the app from scratch every time you use it.

One of the prominent areas where Vivo’s Funtouch OS 14 shines is its privacy. Now you get better protection, improved app hiding, screen mirroring, and a tonne of other features when it comes to privacy. In case someone is mirroring your device on their devices, you will be automatically notified about the same prompting immediate action.
