CES 2016: Lenovo Presents Improved and Tempting ThinkPad Portfolio

1

Every year at Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Vegas, Lenovo refreshes its ThinkPad portfolio. This year, the renowned Chinese PC maker has a very interesting lineup to flaunt. This includes a new slim, light, power enterprise laptop ThinkPad X1 Carbon, a convertible Yoga tablet with an OLED display, the new ThinkPad X1 Tablet which brags about a projector, 3D camera and being a laptop alternative.

The ThinkPad X1 Carbon shall be the lightest and slimmest Businness Ultrabook powered by low power consuming and brawny Skylake Core i5 and Core i7 processors.

Lenovo has included a more vibrant display (Full HD and QHD options available, no-touch), a new fingerprint sensor (touch based instead of swipe based one in last gen models), up to 1TB PCIe NVMe SSD option and claims 11 hours of battery life.  To match this hardware prowess, software is obviously Windows 10 Pro. At a starting price of $1299 INR, the new ThinkPad X1 Carbonn seems impressive.

The ThinkPad X1 Yoga tablet is also a 14 Inch (2560 x 1440) flexible convertible, with an OLED display (high contrast, punchy colors, awesome blacks). You get the same horseporwer as with ThinkPad X1 Carbon (6th Gen Intel processors, 1TB PCIe NVMe SSD, up to 16GB RAM). A fingerprint scanner and Stylus are also part of the package.

The ThinkPad X1 Tablet is different from Yoga series offerings which you can twist and flex in several models. Here, you can attach modules at the bottom of a regular 12 Inch Windows 10 tablet and transform it to something swankier.

You can attach modules to transform it into a Laptop, 3D camera or a 60 Inch display projector. You can also attach a full ThinkPad Keyboard (with trackpad) to use it as a laptop. The ThinkPad X1 Tablet will start selling in February for a starting price of $899. You will have to buy modules and attachments separately.

Lenovo also brought along a 13 Inch ThinkPad Chromebook, which lists 2 USB 3.0 ports, a USB Type C port, HDMI port, standard ThinkPad Keyboard, Core i3 and Core i5 processor, 8GB RAM, 32GB storage and promises 10 hours of battery life.
