These cost-effective MacBooks are expected to make their debut in the latter half of 2024.
Affordable MacBooks In Works
A report from DigiTimes suggests that the upcoming budget-friendly MacBooks will distinguish themselves from the current lineup by utilizing “different materials.” While these new MacBooks will retain their metal casing, the internal hardware components are slated to be more cost-effective compared to the components used in the current MacBook models. Given their affordability compared to the Air and Pro models, it’s anticipated that these MacBooks will feature scaled-down specifications. Apple appears to be gearing up to target the education sector with this upcoming MacBook offering.
Furthermore, the report highlights the remarkable popularity of Google’s Chromebooks, with an impressive shipment of 33.5 million units in 2021. Google not only offers its own Pixelbook series but also collaborates with various OEMs such as Asus, Dell, HP, and Lenovo to bring Chromebooks to the market.
Chromebooks, renowned for their affordability, essentially function as laptops running ChromeOS, providing access to the Google Play Store and all Google applications. In India, Chromebooks are available for purchase even below Rs 20,000. It remains intriguing to see how Apple will price its budget-friendly MacBooks, although, given the company’s reputation, we shouldn’t anticipate an exceptionally low price point.
