It is going to be that time of the year again. The time when Cupertino-based tech giant Apple will take the stage to let the world know what they have been working on and their plans for the future. The World Wide Developers Conference, popularly known as the WWDC is all set to be held from June 5 to June 9 at Apple Park. It will mostly be an online event with an opportunity for students and developers to celebrate a special experience at Apple Park on opening day.

“WWDC is one of our favorite times of the year at Apple because it is an opportunity to connect with the talented developers from around the globe who make this community so extraordinary,” said Susan Prescott, Apple’s VP of Worldwide Developer Relations. She further elaborated, “Apple WWDC23 is going to be the biggest and most exciting yet, and we can’t wait to see many of you online and in person at this very special event!”

Apple WWDC 2023: Expectations

WWDC 2023 will be free for all and will spotlight the latest iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS advancements. Apple will announce iOS 17 with a range of new features making it better than iOS 16.

The company is also expected to talk in detail about its much anticipated augmented or virtual reality headset that has been subjected to tons of leaks and rumors in the past. This virtual reality headset is expected to be the major attraction of the WWDC this year. Apple might name it Reality Pro and reports claim that Apple has already shared the device with a small number of high-profile software developers for testing, letting them get started on 3rd party apps. If the announcement is made during the WWDC, Apple might start shipping it in the fall of 2023.

Apart from all this, Apple is also expected to launch new Mac hardware at the event. The brand has been teasing its Silicon Mac Pro for a while now and its hardware announcement might take place at the WWDC 2023. Apple is also expected to launch the 15-inch MacBook Air as it announced a 13-inch MacBook during the WWDC 2022.

Apple also seems to be working on an updated version of the Apple Store app for the iPhone, adding the augmented reality capabilities that activate when a user enters one of its retail locations. In this updated store, customers would point their iPhone towards a product like an Apple Watch or a Mac and a graphic would overlay on the screen to provide more information about pricing and specs.

This year’s online program will include sessions, one-to-one labs, and a chance to engage with Apple engineers and other developers. Developers and Students can attend a special day at Apple Park on June 5 to watch the keynote live. The space for this in-person live event will be limited so check out the Apple website to learn how to apply for it.

Swift Student Challenge is an Apple program that will help developers and learners of all ages who love to code make a revolutionary app on a topic of their choice. Submissions for this year’s challenge are now open; the deadline is April 19.

Now that the date has been confirmed, we will be getting to know more about WWDC 2023 soon, so stay tuned to this space for more updates on this.
