  • Vision Air might have an aluminium body.

Apple’s forthcoming mixed reality headset, the Apple Vision Air, is anticipated to launch soon. According to a recent report, the Vision Air will be a more streamlined and lightweight iteration of the current Vision Pro Headset. This rumored AR/VR device under the Air branding is expected to be a more affordable option compared to its predecessor.

The Cupertino-based technology giant unveiled the Vision Pro Headset at WWDC 2023, which became available in various global markets in 2024. Now, the next Apple Vision Air is projected to be officially announced by late 2025 or early 2026.

Apple Vision Air: Launch Timeline & Details

According to a report by Mark Gurman, the Apple Vision Air is expected to launch between late 2025 and early 2026. Although the Vision Pro has received mixed reviews and has seen disappointing sales, Apple remains committed to the project. The Vision Air is anticipated to be more affordable, lighter, and sleeker than the Vision Pro.

Previous reports suggested that the Apple Vision Air could have an aluminum exterior, with internal parts constructed from titanium, significantly decreasing the weight of the expected headset.

The current Vision Pro, without an external battery pack, weighs 650 grams, whereas the anticipated Vision Air is expected to be lighter. It will be available in Graphite and Dark Blue colors.

However, it is still unclear whether the Apple Vision Air will serve as a successor to the Vision Pro 2 or if it will be launched as a separate model.

Designed for high-end business use, it is expected to be lighter than the original model. The updated version is projected to be priced below 300,000, and its components may already be in the manufacturing phase. If true, it will be interesting to observe how Apple manages the demand for the Vision Pro 2 upon its release.

Mark Gurman has reported that Apple is developing a Mac-connected version of the Vision Pro, designed for applications requiring enhanced responsiveness. However, he has not provided any details regarding the launch schedule for this device at this time.
