Apple iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max users will soon have more functional options for managing their device’s always-on display. According to reports, the Cupertino-giant is working on a new software update that will allow users to remove their wallpaper and notifications. It will, however, only be made available to beta and developer users with the iOS 16.2 software upgrade.

How does this work?

iPhones’ always-on display is enabled to show notifications continuously by default. But with the new updates, no notifications or wallpaper options will be seen when the user disables the always-on display feature. Also, when the lock screen is locked, only the clock and lock screen widgets will be visible.

According to reports, there have been conflicting reviews about this functionality ever since Apple rolled out the beta testing. While some individuals considered it fascinating, there are others who found it distracting as well. Also, experts on the matter believe that the always-on display is more brighter and contains more colours than Android devices.

So, here are some simple instructions for users who want to turn off this feature.

  1. Go into your iPhone’s Settings.
  2. Hit Display and Brightness.
  3. To turn off the feature, go down to Always On and toggle it off.

For the unversed, Apple has brought the always-on display as their USP with the new iPhone 14 lineup and iOS 16. Even when the device is locked, the function enables the iPhone to display information and user-set app notifications.
