Apple is gearing up to launch the annual iPhone series in September/October 2024 wherein the brand will also announce iOS 18. However, before it rolls out to the public, the company has rolled out iOS 18.1 Beta 1 for developers. The beta release gives developers access to not only new iOS 18 features but some Apple Intelligence capabilities as well. If you are a developer who is registered as a Beta tester, you can start testing iOS 18.1 and iPad OS 18.1 betas right now. For now, there is no scheduled public beta, so average users who want to try it might not get lucky.

If you want to participate in this rollout, you will need an iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, or iPad (M1 chip or newer). Apple announced in June that iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus would be excluded from this launch due to lack of RAM. This is because Apple Intelligence will need at least 8GB of RAM and base models come with 6GB  of RAM.

Apple hasn’t released a full suite of AI features with Beta 1. Some features are being saved for official rollout later this year and next year, but some features have been rolled out already, these are-
