California-based, Tech giant Apple is all set to launch its much-awaited Apple Stores in India. The company had launched its online store last year and also officially confirmed about opening its retail store soon. Apple CEO, Tim Cook had said that the company is seeking approval from the Government of India and plans to open its retail stores in 2021.
The latest update is that Apple has started hiring employees for its upcoming offline retail stores in India. This got confirmed via a LinkedIn post by Nidhi Sharma, a recruiter at Apple, that reads,
“TODAY MARKS ONE OF THE MAJOR MILESTONES IN CREATING HISTORY FOR APPLE RETAIL IN INDIA…
WE ARE NOW LIVE IN INDIA AND WE ARE BRINGING OUR VERY 1ST 2 STORES TO INDIA IN MUMBAI & DELHI!”
The first store is expected to come up at the Bandra-Kurla Complex in Mumbai, followed by the second store in Delhi.
Some of the roles for which Apple has started hiring include Store Leader, Senior Manager, Manager, Operations Expert, Genius, Specialist, and Technical Specialist among others. The job descriptions reportedly mention the term “Apple Store” and highlight that the employees will have to work with customers visiting the retail store.
Currently, the company sells its products offline through authorized resellers but after the opening of official Apple Stores, customers will get a first-hand experience of the company’s products before purchasing them and also get the necessary support for devices purchased.
As per an ET report, the first Apple Store will open on August 15, 2022, coinciding with India’s Independence Day. The third store will open in Bengaluru and again, one more store will be started in both Delhi and Mumbai in the coming years.
So it seems that other major cities like Chennai, Hyderabad, and Kolkata will have to wait for a little longer to get their own Apple Stores.
