Apple dropped a press release announcing its new iPad Pro 2020 models. The American MNC headquartered in Cupertino, California has flaunted the top-notch features, claiming iPad Pro to be faster and more powerful than most Windows laptops and PCs. If a breakthrough feature of the new iPad Pro is to be pointed out, it is the implementation of a LiDAR scanner.

Key Highlights of new  iPad Pro:

  • Liquid Retina display
  • Pro Cameras
  • LiDAR Scanner
  • Faster than a PC using A12Z Bionic chip
  • Magic keyboard

What is LiDAR Scanner in iPad Pro?

The breakthrough introduction of LiDAR Scanner embedded in iPad Pro works with the pro camera to improve the motion captures. LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) is a method that uses light to measure distance by calculating time difference light takes to reach an object and reflect back. The integration of LiDAR Scanner with other elements of iPad Pro is expected to illuminate a new class of AR (Augmented Reality). For instance, it can easily calculate someone’s height, also showing other vertical and edge guides.

Apple iPad Pro Features

The Apple iPad Pro 2020 is adorned with Liquid Retina technology for its edge-to-edge immersive display. Two sizes of iPad have been revealed- one in 11-inch and the other in 12.9-inch size. With the feature of P3 wide color gamut, it will enable users to witness true-to-life detailing in photos, videos, and games. For ultra-scrolling and responsiveness, ProMotion technology regulates the display refresh rate up to 120 Hz. The company has also introduced the display with True Tone, fully-laminated, and anti-reflective coating to upgrade iPad Pro with an advanced mobile display.

The iPad Pro boasts of a Pro camera system including a 12MP wide camera with an aperture of f/1.8 and another 10MP ultra-wide camera with f/2.4 aperture and 125° angle of view. The Pro camera features 2x optical zoom and up to 5x digital zoom.

The iPad Pro has got the new A12Z Bionic chip and as of now the details regarding the chipset are sparse. Apple claims fast processing for everything ranging from regular tasks to graphics-intensive (4K video editing, 3D design, AR) workloads with its 8-core graphic processor assisted by embedded M12 coprocessor. The device runs on powerful iPad OS relying on built-in apps as an advantage. The hardware and software combine together to make this iPad a multi-tasker.

Magic Keyboard & Apple Pencil

iPad Pro obviously gets a Keyboard cover, and Apple calls this one ‘Magic Keyboard’. It is a full-sized keyboard with hard keycaps and the key travel is still 1mm. It features a trackpad, a C-type port for main power source, and a protective layer at the front and back. To assist the artists, students and everyone else who values a stylus, a second-generation Apple Pencil will also be there. It will cling to iPad Pro magnetically and charge wirelessly.

Price and Availability:

Apple has set the price of 11-inch iPad Pro starting at $799 for the Wi-Fi model and $949 for the Wi-Fi + cellular model. The starting price for the 12.9-inch Wi-Fi model is $999 and for the Wi-Fi + cellular model, it is $1,149. The devices will be available on the official Apple website very soon.
