Apple had its first big event of the year live broadcasted from Apple Park. As always the event kicked off with Tim Cook vaunting how the brand is making a difference in people’s lives. So, after a few words on Earth Day, Apple’s Carbon Neutral gains and goals, the intro of Apple Card Family, Podcast Subscription service, and iPhone 12 Purple color, Apple revealed the long-awaited and rumored AirTag. The company took the veil off a bunch of other products too.

Here’s everything Apple unveiled at the Spring Loaded event:

AirTag

AirTag, as you may know already, is Apple’s take on Tile and other object tracking solutions. It comes with a U1 chip and works with other U1-enabled devices (which includes iPhone 11 and after). Basically, attach it to the devices you are likely to lose or miss, and when you have a hard time finding them, fire up the AirTag from the Find My section and it lets you get hold of the lost or missing object thanks to visual, haptic, and audio response.

Apple assures it won’t be tracking people and also highlighted features such as unwanted tag detection, audible alerts, and rotating identifiers.

Apple TV 4K is powered by A12 Bionic chip and features Dolby Vision, HDR high frame rate, a new color balance option that can be triggered using the iPhone and a revamped aluminum-made Siri Remote (with a click pad).

M1 iMac

As expected and evident from the name, the new iMac joins the prevailing M1 line of products. Apple claims, “CPU performance is up to 85% faster than previous 21.5-inch iMac. GPU performance is up to 2x faster, even up to 50% than fastest discrete graphics available in 21.5-inch model. Machine learning up to 3x faster with 16-core neural engine.”

Besides the new processor, the thing packs 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD, 2 fans, and still manages to be 11.5mm in thickness.

On the front, there is a 24-inch 4.5K screen with True Tone, antireflective coating, and a 1080p webcam up top. The camera is paired with a three-mic system aided by beamforming to allay ambient noise. Now on the audio front, the machine sports a six-speaker setup with two pairs of woofers, Dolby Atmos-based surround sound.

As for connectivity, the M1 Mac houses up to four USB-C ports (two Thunderbolt), along with a clever cable management solution for the power connector and Ethernet. Lastly, the Magic Keyboard now comes with a built-in Touch ID ability.
