Amazon has allegedly rolled out invites for the upcoming Kindle launch event to be held at the Zhuzhong Art museum in Beijing on October 17. These invites were apparently shared on Weibo. The said launch isn’t likely to be exclusive to China, though. Amazon is likely to unveil the new Kindle globally the same day.

Since Amazon refreshes its best selling e-reader, the Kindle Paperwhite, every two years, the upcoming Kindle could be the Paperwhite 4. According to earlier rumors, the Paperwhite 4 will have Bluetooth and Audible support. This is certainly plausible as the functionality is already there in high-end Kindle Oasis and the entry-grade Kindle reader.

It is also rumored to include a color temperature system for a candlelight effect, which is probably less harsh on eyes during night time reading. The teaser image also reveals that beefy top and bottom bezels aren’t going anywhere for now. But maybe we’d get flush glass surface as that of new Kindle Oasis.

Kindle Paperwhite is Amazon’s most affordable Kindle ebook reader with backlight and also its bestselling one. Apart from hardware, these devices benefit from Amazon’s unparalleled content catalog and other services. For instance, Amazon recently started Prime Reading in India that entitles Prime customers to a plethora of popular titles without paying anything extra apart from their membership fee.

A Kindle refresh makes perfect sense at this point in time and there are good changes that these reports turn out to be true.
