Amazon Echo Input, a puck that can add Alexa to any external speaker, is now available in India. In other words, you could use this to connect any speaker with an audio jack into a smart Echo device and integrate it as part of your smart home.

Echo Input is a disc-shaped device that has four always-listening microphones at the top. With the help of microphones, Echo Input hears you from across the room – even when music is playing.
It works on Far-Field Technology just like a normal Echo does. You could connect it to any of the existing speakers. Just plug it into your favorite external speaker via a 3.5 mm audio cable or Bluetooth. Notably, like the Echo speaker, this also needs to be constantly plugged to a power source for it to work.

So, it works like Google’s Chromecast Audio but it comes with the Far-Field microphones too. This means you could avail the Alexa voice assistant as well.
You can ask Alexa to read the news headlines, check the temperature and traffic, setting alarms and timers, create your to-do list, play your favorite playlist, etcetera. Speaking of the playlist, you could also stream unlimited music from Amazon Prime Music library as well as from other sources like JioSaavn, Gaana, Hungama, and Radio City Gold. It is exclusively available via Amazon India at Rs 2,999. In India, it is launched in Black color only.
As a part of the launch offers, the new Echo Input can be purchased free of cost if you buy Bose Soundlink Revolve and UE Boom 3 speakers from Amazon India. Or you may grab it at half standard price of Rs 1,499 by buying the JBL Go 2 speaker along with it.
