Amazon has made Alexa, its smart assistant both native and niftier for the local needs. Fire TV devices now support Alexa routines and you can talk to the smart assistant in Hindi. You can request the weather details, add items to your to-do list, check the news, see sports scores, and fire routines all in Hindi.
Here’s how it will work —
Hindi and Routines with Alexa on Fire TVs
If you are a new user, you can select the Hindi language at the time of setting up Fire TV. Else, you can make the change by going to Settings > Preferences > Language.
Once it is enabled, you can talk in Hindi to Alexa. But, note that the assistant won’t be able to respond in Hindi.
You may assign certain Hindi commands for various actions. Once that’s done, just say the phrase through Alexa Voice Remote, and Alexa will serve you.
Besides the new language addition, Alexa gets Routines support. Alexa Routines are user-created shortcuts to automate various combinations of actions. You can trigger the slate of actions with a single voice command.
You can activate Alexa routines via the Alexa app by following this official guide. Then, connect your Fire TV device to the Alexa app by going to Settings > TV & Video > Fire TV. Now, when you go to the Routine setup section in the Alexa app, you’ll have new Fire TV device controls.
The feature is globally available across all Fire TV devices. That said, Fire TV Stick users will have to ensure their TVs support HDMI-CEC (Consumer Electronics Control) to use a Routine to power their TV on or off.
So, check out these new features in your Fire TVs and let us know about your experience.
