The market of three-row SUVs will populate in the coming future as a lineup of new and revamped models will be introduced for the Indian terrain. To be named, Hyundai will launch the 2022 Tucson on July 13 while Tata is anticipated to bring another version of its Tata Safari and this time a petrol model.

Since the rivals like Mahindra XUV700/Scorpio N, Hyundai Alcazar, and MG Hector Plus offer petrol engine models, it is where Tata lags so the maker is gearing to launch the petrol iteration of its popular Safari. Now, the test mule of the anticipated Tata Safari has appeared confirming its existence, though it will be debuted next year in 2023.

2023 Tata Safari Petrol model details

The new Tata Safari has been in the works for quite some time and has been spied on several times. Now, the SUV in white colour paint was seen testing on the Pune-Mumbai expressway. The concerned images have been shared by Mandar Patil, an automobile enthusiast.

For the diesel model, the 2023 Tata Safari is said to be equipped with a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged motor. The diesel engine is believed to be inherited from Tata Nexon which includes a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder Revotron turbo petrol but with a few modifications. It will deliver an output of 150bhp and a peak torque of 250Nm. The transmission option could be a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic gearboxes.

It is also expected to arrive with a panoramic sunroof, rain-sensing wipers, LED front lights, roof grilles, etc.

Currently, the company is retailing the 2.0-litre Kryotec diesel engine version of Safari. Tata is looking to bet heavily on its two offerings including Harrier and Safari to surpass the Mahindra XUV700 in terms of sales number.
