Vivo’s new and ambitious flagship, the Vivo X21, is an innovative and thrilling premium phone. It’s not every day that we come across a premium smartphone that clubs uncompromising hardware with deft software and also throws in a few innovative extras – all for a reasonable price.

We have been putting X21 through its paces for a few weeks now and even after all this time, we find it exceedingly difficult to lay our hands off it. In case you are considering buying Vivo X21 but can’t quite make up your mind, here are a few reasons for why you should stop overthinking and just go ahead.

1. In-display fingerprint sensor – never fails to amaze

The in-display fingerprint sensor on Vivo X21 is certainly its prime attraction and deserves all the hype. Ever since the full-view screens pushed them to the rear, we have been missing front fingerprint readers. After all, this is where the unlock sensor makes the most sense.

The fact that Vivo has been able to reinstate them to their natural position before anyone else speaks volumes about the company’s tech expertise. The in-display fingerprint sensor continues to amaze us every time we unlock the X21 (in fact, we find ourselves looking for excuses to unlock it for no good reason at all). It’s fast, consistent, and even works with wet hands.

2. Design Premium and ergonomic

The Vivo X21 adorns a premium glass finish body. What really stands out is the fact that Vivo managed to keep the phone light, slim, and handy despite using a large size display. In fact, the Vivo X21 is slimmer (7.3mm) and lighter (156 grams) than all other 6.28-inch screen phones in its class.

The glass back arches towards the edges which ensures a firm grip. In the box, Vivo also bundles a good quality case and a custom designed, high-quality screen protector with oleophobic coating to keep smudges at bay.

3. Captivating Display

The fascia is dominated by a gorgeous 19:9 Full HD+ Super AMOLED screen. Since this is an OLED screen, you get the characteristic infinite contrast and awesome blacks. The colors are punchy, dynamic range is wide, and the brightness can go high enough for comfortable outdoor use and low enough for strain-free night time usage.

The Vivo X21 screen is mesmerizing, light on eyes, and should be an absolute treat for people who prefer watching multimedia content on their phones.

4. Impeccable Performance

The Vivo X21 is a real rock star when it comes to performance. Under its hood, the phone employs Snapdragon 660 octa-core mobile platform, which is mated to Adreno 512, 6GB of RAM, and ample 128GB storage.

There was zero lag or stuttering while running demanding apps and games like PUBG, Asphalt 8, and Modern Combat on Vivo X21. Moreover, the chipset formed on the 14nm process is extremely light on resources. This results in significantly less battery drain while running heavy loads.

5. Impressive Dual Rear Cameras

Vivo X21 includes dual camera sensors (12MP+5MP) on the rear with phase detection autofocus, dual pixel technology, and AI support. The Vivo X21 rear camera manages to produce crisp images with excellent natural looking colors, even in indoor and low lighting. The rear camera portrait mode is also effective as it manages to detect edges even in tricky shots and evenly blurs the subject from the background.

6. Selfies

Not only the rear, but the front selfie camera on the Vivo X21 also has a dual-pixel sensor. The 12MP selfie camera can shoot detailed selfies both indoors and in broad daylight.

The AI-powered software further adds a subtle beautification mode and a portrait selfie mode that can be used to blur selfie backdrop and to add different lighting effects to self-portraits. You can also shoot animated live images and use HDR mode for the front camera.

7. Dual SIM and Dual VoLTE

The Vivo X21 is one of the rare few phones out there that includes Dual VoLTE support. This is especially useful for consumers who use Jio SIM cards and also use data on primary SIM intermittently.

The point being, your Jio SIM won’t go inactive when you switch data to the other SIM and you will still be able to use Jio SIM for calling.

8. Fast Face Unlock

The Vivo X21 comes with face unlock that uses an infrared camera and a flood illuminator to scan points on your face. In practice, it’s extremely fast, as reliable as the in-display fingerprint sensor and also works in low light.

Even when we use the fingerprint sensor to unlock the phone, the Face Unlock is quite useful at times when you are unlocking with gestures. For instance, if you simply sketch a ‘C’ on the screen, the X21 will wake up, instantly unlock with face recognition, and take you to the dialer app instantly.

9. Crystal Clear Audio

Music is one of the fortes of Vivo, and its X21 is no exception. The handset comes equipped with high-fidelity chipset – Hi-Fi AK4376A – that offers state of the art sound experience for music enthusiasts.

The speaker output is loud and clear. Vivo also bundles good-quality Vivo earphones inside the retail box to take your music experience to next level.

10. Long-lasting Battery and Fast Charging

The Vivo X21 packs an average size 3,200mAh battery, but the screen-on-time we are getting is surprisingly great. We can easily manage 8-9 hours Screen-on-time in high-performance mode and 11-12 hours on moderate and regular usage.

Apart from the different power saving profiles for use under critical circumstances, Vivo has also added “Dual Engine Quick Charge” that can tank up the battery in little more than 1.5 hours.

10 Reasons to buy Vivo X21 in India

The Vivo X21 is a thoroughly interesting premium phone. For its price, it offers the best front and rear camera experience, a great Super AMOLED screen, dependable performance, enriching audio, and a long-lasting battery. And of course, the in-display fingerprint sensor is the icing on the cake.

You can buy Vivo X21 from Flipkart or Vivo’s online store for Rs. 35,990.
