While it hasn’t been much time since the OnePlus 12 (review) came out, rumors about the OnePlus 13 have started swirling on the internet. The most recent rumor comes from a reliable Chinese tipster, Digital Chat Station. He claims that the OnePlus 13 could feature a screen similar to its predecessor’s. Further, the handset could run on Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC.
OnePlus 13: Display
According to the Digital Chat Station, the OnePlus 13 will feature a display as big as the OnePlus 12. We’re talking about a 6.8-inch 2K LTPO screen that supports variable refresh rate. Further, DCS talks about the presence of a micro-curved screen, which could make the flagship phone more comfortable to hold.
OnePlus 13: New Camera Design
The tipster also hints at the possibility of a new camera design, but he doesn’t provide any details. For the last two generations, the OnePlus flagship series has shipped with a circular camera island with a triple-camera setup. A revamped camera design could indicate a new camera module, and it would be interesting to see what designers at OnePlus have in store for us.
OnePlus Might Upgrade The Fingerprint Sensor On The Upcoming Flagship
While the OnePlus 12 is an excellent smartphone, users often complain about its fingerprint scanner. The handset ships with an optical scanner, which isn’t as accurate and secure as the ultrasonic sensors on the Galaxy S24 series. Fortunately, the company could remedy this with the OnePlus 13, which might ship with an ultrasonic sensor.
OnePlus 13 Could Feature The Performance Powerhouse – Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC
Besides the micro-curved screen and an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, the OnePlus 13 could also feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC. For those catching up, the chipset should go official in October 2024. However, the processor’s benchmark scores are already available on the internet, and they are impressive.
OnePlus 13: Battery And Camera
Last but not least, the tipster also mentions a “periscope multi-focal image module design adjustment.” Apparently, the OnePlus 13 could ship with a new periscope camera lens, which could provide a 3x optical zoom lens. However, even the OnePlus 12 has a 64MP (f/2.6) 3x optical camera. So, for the company to call it an upgrade, they might have to do something differently.
In the past, Indian tipster Yogesh Brar suggested that the OnePlus 12 successor could feature a 5,400 mAh battery that supports 100W wired charging. However, he predicted that the phone would feature the same camera as the OnePlus 12, which might disappoint those looking for an upgrade.
