Maserati as a car brand has made a big name in the industry when it comes to super cars. The company has once again impressed most of the car enthusiasts with its latest offering the GranCabrio Folgore. The newly launched car comes with some stunning features and performance, including the soft-rofe convertible design and powerful gigantic engine. It gets a V6 machines which is capable of producing as much as 761hp of max power.

The Folgore, named after the Italian word for lightning, ditches the twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine of its combustion-powered counterpart in favor of three electric motors sourced from the hard-roofed Maserati GranTurismo Folgore.

Powertrain

Maseratic engineers has placed one motor on front axle and the rest of the two are mounted at the rear. The brand has claimed that each motor is capable of producing 408hp of power and its combined out is about 761hp which is a gigantic number.

Right now, the battery in the car can only give out a maximum power of 600kW (816hp). But in the future, as technology improves and the car gets updated, this limit might go up. Maserati says the convertible GranCabrio can go up to 447km on a single charge, which is almost the same as the electric GranTurismo’s range of 450km.

Design

When you look at the Folgore, you’ll notice some changes in its appearance compared to its petrol counterpart. Instead of the slatted grille found on the petrol version, the Folgore has what’s called ‘inverted’ surfacing. This means that the areas that are open on the petrol model’s grille are solid on the electric version, and vice versa. Klaus Busse, Maserati’s design chief, explained that he decided to redesign the grille rather than just making it flat. He wanted to ensure that the car still has a distinctive Maserati look, whether it’s the Folgore, the GranTurismo (ICE), or the Grecale.

The GranCabrio Folgore features the same folding fabric roof as its petrol counterpart. It can be raised or lowered in just 14 seconds, even while driving at speeds of up to 50kph. As a standard feature, it includes a neck-warming system with three heat settings. Additionally, there’s an optional wind deflector available for purchase, which helps minimize turbulence for the passengers.
