Maserati continues its streak of innovation with the debut of the all-new GranCabrio, hot on the heels of the GranTurismo’s release in 2023. Promising to elevate the theatrical experience established by its GranTurismo counterpart, the GranCabrio maintains a perfect balance between performance and comfort. Embracing a convertible design, it swaps the coupe roof for a sophisticated folding fabric arrangement, allowing for seamless transitions between open-air exhilaration and enclosed refinement in just 14 seconds, even while cruising at speeds of up to 50kph.

Powertrain

The GranCabrio inherits its powerhouse from the acclaimed Nettuno 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine, a gem shared with its GranTurismo and MC20 sportscar counterparts. Initially showcased in the top-spec Trofeo variant, this V6 marvel churns out an impressive 550hp and comes standard with all-wheel drive, promising an exhilarating driving experience that’s synonymous with Maserati’s performance legacy.

While Maserati has kept mum on specific acceleration figures and top speeds for the GranCabrio, it’s worth noting that the GranTurismo boasts impressive performance metrics. With claims of accelerating from 0-100kph in just 3.5 seconds and reaching a top speed of 320kph, these numbers set a high bar for the GranCabrio. However, it’s expected that the convertible configuration may slightly alter these statistics.

Maserati has yet to provide confirmation regarding the availability of the GranCabrio with the coupe’s 490hp V6 or 760hp electric powertrains. However, sightings of the Folgore EV undergoing testing abroad hint at its imminent arrival, suggesting that the electric variant could potentially be an option for the GranCabrio in the near future.

What’s There In Exterior And Interior

The GranCabrio closely resembles its coupe counterpart, featuring a fabric soft-top in place of the traditional roof. Available in five different colors, this soft-top can be conveniently operated via a touch button located on the central display. With quintessential sportscar proportions, the GranCabrio embodies Maserati’s signature design elements, including the iconic oval grille adorned with the Trident logo, three air vents on the front fenders, and sleek, vertical headlamps with slim, L-shaped LED daytime running lamps.

Inside, the GranCabrio stays true to its coupe counterpart, featuring familiar elements such as dual screens for controlling infotainment and HVAC functions, along with a timeless analog clock on the dashboard. The steering wheel and digital dials retain their original design, maintaining continuity with the coupe model.

Additionally, a newly introduced neck-warmer system comes as standard, providing passengers with three levels of warmth for added comfort during open-top driving experiences. However, the manually operated wind deflector, designed to minimize turbulence, is available as an optional extra.

Expected India Launch

Following the MC20’s debut in March 2023, Maserati has been steadily expanding its lineup in India. The GranTurismo coupe was slated for arrival between April and June 2024, followed by the electric GranTurismo Folgore in the October-December period of the same year. Given Maserati’s track record of offering previous iterations of the GranCabrio in the Indian market, it’s reasonable to anticipate the arrival of this new model sometime in 2025.
