Android 15 is expected to be rolling out with a feature that’s sure to make life easier for Pixel Watch users. You can now control your phone’s media output right from your watch, making it super convenient to manage your audio playback.

Imagine this: you’re at home, listening to music on your phone, and you want to switch to your Bluetooth speaker or a TWS. With Android 15, instead of using your phone, you can simply tap on your connected Pixel Watch to make the switch. It’s that easy!

This feature isn’t entirely new; some Galaxy Watches already offer similar functionality. However, Google’s integration of this feature into Android and Wear OS is a welcome addition. Now, more Wear OS watches, including the Pixel Watch, will benefit from this seamless media control.

To make use of this feature, you’ll need to grant your watch’s companion app the MEDIA_ROUTING_CONTROL permission. This permission allows the app to access a list of available devices and chooae where to stream audio from your smartphone. It might sound a bit technical, but don’t worry—it’s easy to manage in your watch’s settings.

Overall, this update makes it even more convenient to control your smartphone’s audio output. Android 15 is expected to be unveiled at Google’s October event, alongside the highly anticipated Pixel 9 series. The beta program is already live; so you can join in if you have an eligible device.
