Frequently Asked Questions
How long does the battery realistically last on the Garmin Forerunner 165 Music Smartwatch?
While it officially claims up to 11 days in basic smartwatch mode, real-world daily usage with health tracking yields about 5 to 7 days. If you utilize the GPS alongside Bluetooth music playback, expect the battery to drain much faster, allowing for roughly 6 hours of continuous tracking.
Can I use the Garmin Forerunner 165 Music to make UPI payments or use Garmin Pay in India?
No, this smartwatch does not support Garmin Pay or local contactless UPI payments anywhere in India. If you plan to grab a post-run drink or snack, you will still need to carry your phone or physical wallet with you.
Can I listen to offline music via Spotify on the Garmin Forerunner 165 Music Smartwatch?
Yes, you can directly sync and download your playlists over Wi-Fi using premium accounts on Spotify or Amazon Music. The watch provides space to store up to 500 songs, so you can pair your Bluetooth earbuds directly and leave your phone at home.
What major tracking metrics are missing on the Forerunner 165 compared to the Forerunner 265?
This model trims down a few premium elements like Training Readiness, Training Status, and dual-band GPS accuracy. It also leaves out a dedicated triathlon mode and fails to support external cycling power meters, making it tailored specifically for pure running enthusiasts.
Is the screen easy to read during outdoor runs under harsh sunlight in India?
The 1.2-inch AMOLED touchscreen is exceptionally bright, colorful, and completely sharp even under direct, harsh afternoon sunlight. Just keep in mind that leaving the screen on always-on mode will notably cut your overall battery longevity.
How accurate is the heart rate and GPS tracking for fitness enthusiasts?
The single-band GPS handles open paths beautifully, though it can experience mild positional drift near tall high-rises or dense tree canopies. The optical heart rate tracker works beautifully for steady cardio, but it can show slight latency during high-intensity interval training.
How does the Garmin Forerunner 165 Music handle smartwatch features like calling and texting?
This is fundamentally a dedicated fitness tracker rather than a traditional smartwatch, meaning it completely lacks an integrated speaker, microphone, or calling capabilities. You will receive incoming notification alerts from your phone, but you cannot text back or answer calls directly from the wrist.
