Apple unveiled the new era of iPhones with the launch two new revamped models- the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus. This time around, the iPhones come with a handful of tweaks on various grounds. Precisely, the CPU, Camera, Design, headphone Jack, a more accurate home button and stereo speakers at top and bottom. Let's dig deep to know more about the iPhone 7 which is more or less identical to last year's iPhone 6 (at least on the outside).
Talking about design, iPhone 7 employs can easily be confused with previous generation iPhones, but Apple does add a few subtle changes. For instance, the antenna bands now run along the edges, which makes them less visible and the camera hump isn’t as sharp as before.
The new generation of iPhones drop the 'Space Grey' hue and come in two new shades of black. The one with a soft touch matte finish is referred as 'Black' and the shiny dark black model is called 'Jet Black'(Jet black model comes in 128GB and 256GB variant only). However, the Rose Gold, Gold and Silver variant remain intact in the lineup.
The new iPhone 7 is not hydrophobic anymore. Its water and dust resistance IP67 rating explains it. That is to say, it can withstand 30 minutes of immersion in a meter deep water.
I don't think, their idea to drop the 3.5mm earphone jack will amuse a lot of consumers. However, an adaptor to fit in the 3.5mm jack to the lightening port comes within the box ( you can also opt for Airpods which eliminate the troubles with tangling wire altogether).
The handset flaunts a (750 x 1334) resolution 4.7-inch (iPhone 6 features a screen size equally big) LED-backlit IPS LCD display with a wider range of color Gamut and display Zoom functionality.
iPhone 7 sports a more accurate fingerprint sensor embedded home button with the vibration based taptic feedback engine.
In terms of optics, it packs a 12 MP (f/1.8 aperture) rear shooter with OIS feature and quad-LED (dual tone) flash. The flash operates in tandem with a flicker sensor to ensure the natural white balance.
iPhone 7 features an upgraded 7MP Selfie snapper compared to the 5MP sensor in its predecessor.
The new iPhone has grown more powerful and fast with two added cores to make it a 64-bit quad-core A10 CPU. Apple claims the A10 SoC is 40% faster than the A9 and is more efficient in terms of power as well (so you can expect a better mileage). You can also hope for a better graphics execution with the new chipset.
Under the hood, the A10 processor is mated with 2GB RAM and 32GB/128GB/256GB of internal storage.
iPhone 7 runs iOS 10 out of the box and support Nano SIM card.
Connectivity options and other basic features include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth v4.2, GLONASS, NFC, and USB v2.0 (reversible).
iPhone 7 price in India will start at 60,000 INR. Meanwhile, the phone is expected to arrive soon to the global market.
