Vostro 2420- Out of box review!
Before I made the purchase, I reviewed two other contenders, Lenovo G580 and the HP 2016TU. Even though both were 15.6", the 14" won the battle due to two key elements, robustness and Intel Speedstep technology. I had gone to the market and checked out all the three models and Dell had the best plastic quality, plus the fingerprints don't stick like magnets due to a non-glossy finish. Intel Speedstep technology gives the processor the power to overclock when needed, just like having an extra gear in your car, but it does drain the juice in the battery, that is why I purchased the 14inch screen laptop, because laptops with a 15.6 inch screen without the turbo boost/speedstep technology give out the same battery life as a 14 inch laptop with turboboost/speedstep tech. The trick is, you can turn it off from BIOS and save extra juice in the battery. The delivery time from flipkart was awesome, I placed my order on Saturday and the system was delivered to me before Monday noon! The packing was good, unboxed the laptop and installed windows 7, getting the drivers was easy from the support.dell website. The average backup was 3-3.5 hrs with heavy usage and 4+ hrs with Intel Speedstep turned off, and still the processor was able to handle things well.Overall Verdict- awesome package for a system below Rs.24000, that too especially being a Dell!

So far so good... will use it for a while and then write the review. A lappy for basic needs, and not fore core computing actions. More of a home lappy, not for core gaming or some serious coding. Config is good enough to run any basic utility or software. Look and feel is awesome, keyboard is one in a million.

Decent Performance.
Good product by DELL in the entry level range. Bought this for my cousin just for basic internet browsing, videos and music playback. Wanted a 14 inch one and only DELL had it with such specifications. DELL showroom in Goa range starts at 35000. Good service at flipkart with wide range of products.Completely satisfied.
