Xiaomi is reportedly working on a phone with a 108MP sensor that will sport up to 120X digital zoom. The device codenamed CAS is rumored to be underway. That will be one more phone from the Mi CC10 series.

As per Xiaomishka, the source of this new leak, the company has been prepping the new phone ever since the new year. So, it should be unveiled at some point in the coming month.

A 120X camera sensor, huh!

Up until now, the longest zooming can be found within the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra with its 100X Space Zoom. Mind you, that’s digital zoom, made possible by cropping. So it’s not lossless. It conjures 10X hybrid optical zoom, thanks to data from its primary 108MP camera and the 48MP telephoto camera. Speaking of optical, there is the Huawei P40 Pro Plus with a 10x camera.

But, if rumors are true, this upcoming Xiaomi Mi CC10 Pro will wield 12X optical telephoto zoom. And as far as the main sensor is concerned, it is probably the
108MP ISOCELL HM2.

Now, don’t confuse this one with the 108MP shooter found inside some recent phones. That one’s ISOCELL HM1. In fact, if you remember, it was Mi CC9 Pro, that was the first phone to feature a 108MP HM1 imaging sensor.

And that’s all we know about the camera department on this CAS aka Mi CC10 Pro.
Meanwhile, the report also states that the phone could come harboring the Qualcomm Snapdragon 775G SoC with 5G support. That chip is something we are hearing for the first time.

Anyhow, let’s look forward to July and who knows, we might come across more details in the coming weeks.
