Rumors regarding the launch of Xiaomi Mi 7 have been rife since the start of the year. The phone was expected to come at MWC 2018 event, but it missed the train, and Xiaomi went on to announce Mi Mix 2S later in March. Now, a new report has surfaced on the internet which indicates that the Mi 7 could launch later this month, and it may accompany with an alleged Mi 8 (or maybe Xiaomi will skip 7 for the 8?). Xiaomi is gearing up for its 2018 Annual Product launch event in Shenzhen, China on May 31, where it is said to announce a couple of new smartphones. If rumors are to be believed then both the phones or either one of them, Mi 7 or Mi8, could be unveiled.

Xiaomi Mi 8 and Mi 7 May 31 Launch (Expected)

The image of Mi 8 retail box coming so close to the launch event strongly indicates its arrival. Xiaomi could launch the phone as a special 8-year-anniversary edition.

The retail box image of Mi 8, courtesy Chinese website – My Drivers, seems to be coming straight from Xiaomi’s warehouse. The image shows number ‘8’ printed on it, along with Mi logo on top-right corner.

Not to mention, a few days back an image showcasing the front panel placed inside a plastic cover with Xiaomi Mi 8 mentioned over it was leaked via Slashleaks. The image showed a wide notch at the top of the display, just like the alleged Mi 7 image, and also a slight amount of bezel at the bottom.

The information about the Mi 8 specifications is very scarce right now.

The Xiaomi Mi 7, on the other hand, is expected to feature a 5.8-inch Full HD+ display, Snapdragon 845 SoC, 6GB RAM, 128GB storage, and dual 16-megapixel sensors on the back. The phone may house a 4000mAh battery and run on Android-oreo based MIUI 9.

All the above information are based on leaks and rumors, so take it with a grain of salt. The confirmed specifications will be known once the devices are officially announced by Xiaomi.
