Xiaomi’s alleged “Black Shark” gaming phone will go official on April 13 according to a trusted source for Xiaomi leaks on Weibo. The phone is being manufactured by Xiaomi’s subsidiary Black Shark Technologies which has started rolling out invites for the official event.

The Black Shark Gaming smartphone is pegged to be Xiaomi’s alternative to the amazing Razer phone launched late last year. It will also be the second Xiaomi phone to be powered by Snapdragon 845 octa-core chipset (the first one being recently launched Mi Mix 2s). The chipset will be aided by 8GB of RAM and up to 128GB storage options.

If leaked images are to be believed, The Black shark phone will look more like a gaming console with a proper joystick and other gaming controls present on the fascia.

According to a previous AnTuTu leak, the ‘BlackShark’ gaming smartphone will sport a full HD+ display with 2160 x 1080 resolution (and probably high 120Hz refresh rate to suit hardcore gamers). This should also be first Xiaomi phone to run Android Oreo-based software out of the box.
