TL; DR
  • Xiaomi 17T launches in India at Rs 59,999, with sales beginning June 10 on Amazon.
  • The phone packs a Leica-tuned 50MP 5x periscope telephoto with OIS for flagship-level zoom.
  • A 6,500mAh battery, Dimensity 8500 Ultra, and HyperOS 3 round out the sub-flagship package.

The Xiaomi 17 series has been making a strong case for itself in India’s premium mid-range segment. Now, the brand has released the Xiaomi 17T, the most affordable smartphone in the series. It is the third model in the lineup so far, after the Xiaomi 17 and the Xiaomi 17 Ultra

Even more important is the context that this is the first T-series variant to launch in India, and the most interesting bit is its camera, which features a 5x periscope telephoto lens, the same zoom capability that the Xiaomi 17 Ultra provides for well over ₹1,00,000.

Xiaomi 17T: Key Features

First and foremost, the Xiaomi 17T ships with a 6.59-inch 1.5K AMOLED screen that supports a 120Hz refresh rate and up to 3,500 nits of peak brightness. Under the hood, the phone runs on the Dimensity 8500 Ultra, a chip that has become quite popular in the premium mid-range segment.

Out of the box, the phone runs on HyperOS 3 based on Android 16. Globally, Xiaomi has promised to provide up to five years of major operating system upgrades, along with six years of security patches, which is quite good in isolation, but still behind the industry-best support provided by Samsung and Google.

The RAM used on the phone is LPDDR5X, while the storage is UFS 4.1, which provides flagship performance while running, opening, and installing apps. However, the main selling proposition of the smartphone is its Leica-tuned triple-rear camera system.

Powering the phone is a 6,500 mAh Si/C battery that supports 67W HyperCharge wired charging.
