If your phone charger refuels the phone’s battery fast, then, Vivo’s new 120W Super FlashCharge would be stupid fast. The company touts its new charger could power a 4,000mAh battery in 13 minutes! Further, Vivo claims that it takes only 5 minutes for a 4,000mAh battery to reach 50 percent capacity.

The charging speed of the proprietary technologies has risen by leaps and bounds. Xiaomi had also teased a 100W Super Charge Turbo technology that could spruce up a 4,000mAh battery in 17 minutes. Vivo has surpassed this to become the fastest charging tech with highest charging capacity in the smartphone industry.

A compatible phone could charge at a stupendous speed, making other chargers seem slow.

Vivo is yet to reveal any details regarding its availability. This could be still in the development phase and months away from a commercial launch.

Downsides

There are some downsides of faster charging, though. Faster charging speeds are harsher on battery health in the long run. Also, faster-charging tech requires more spacing between anode and cathode in your battery, resulting in thicker batteries, which in turn result in bigger and bulkier phones.

Then, of course, safety concerns will need to be addressed before the technology hits real-world devices.

Mobile World Congress (MWC) Shanghai 2019 would be held from 26 to 28 June 2019, which is just days away. Vivo has used a “Vivo 5G” hashtag on the Weibo post, suggesting its unveil alongside the company’s purported 5G phone.
