Tecno Camon iClick Unboxing and Quick Review with Pros and Cons

0

The Tecno Camon iClick is the fourth smartphone Tecno has rolled out under its Camon series in 2018 in India. While the first three – the Camon i, Camon i Air, Camon i Sky – were the budget phones, the Camon iClick is an affordable mid-range phone targeted at the offline buyers.

To begin with, the iClick includes a decent set of specifications. We got the chance to briefly examine the Tecno Camon iClick and here are our initial impressions. Let’s begin.

Tecno Camon iClick Design and Build Quality

The Tecno Camon iClick has the same design and build quality as the previously launched Camon phones. It comes with a metal-finish plastic unibody design, has curved edges that make it comfortable to grip, and a 2.5D contoured glass that gives it a face lift.

From the rear, the Camon iClick looks elegant and feels solid when you hold it in your hands. It survived our bend test with no creeks or flexes, whatsoever. To top it all, Tecno bundles a good quality transparent TPU case and a screen protector to keep the phone safe and guarded.

The back of the phone is where you will find fingerprint sensor, Tecno branding, and top-corner-aligned camera module. Whereas, up front, the Tecno Camon iClick sport an 18:9 full vision display, with reasonably slim bezels on all sides.

The volume rockers, power button, and SIM ejector tray are on the right edge of the phone. And, the speaker grill, MicroUSB port and 3.5mm headphone jack are all on the bottom edge.

All in all, we were pretty content with the Camon iClick design.

Tecno Camon iClick Display

The Tecno Camon iClick sports a 6-inch HD+ display, cut into a manageable size with 18:9 aspect ratio and thin bezels on top and bottom. Even if that feels bigger to you, you can make use of the one-hand mode.

Though the display feels bright and sharp, the 720p HD+ resolution feels disappointing. Further, you also get an eye-care mode to set the color tones to be easier on your eyes at night.

Tecno Camon iClick Performance and Software

Under the hood, the dual-SIM Tecno Camon iClick rocks 2.0Ghz 64-bit octa-core MediaTek 6763 chipset, paired with ample 4GB of RAM and 64GB storage space.

In our hands-on time, the phone ran smoothly and we didn’t face any lags or stutters while moving in or out of apps. We will need some more time to ascertain how well the MediaTek chip holds when pushed to its limits.

The Camon iClick runs on Tecno’s custom HiOS skin on top of Android Oreo out-of-the-box. We are not a huge fan of custom UI and the HiOS does nothing to change it. It still doesn’t feel like an immature ROM and is quite feature rich.

Tecno Camon iClick Camera and Battery

The Tecno Camon iClick is a selfie-centric phone with a 20-megapixel sensor with f/2.0 aperture lens and dual-LED flash on the front, and 16-megapixel sensor with f/1.8 aperture lens and “4X flash” on the rear.

The cameras are backed by nifty features and modes like HDR, Panorama, filters, Portrait mode, and Beauty mode. The Tecno Camon iClick cameras should give you decent results in broad daylight.

As for the battery, the Tecno Camon iClick houses a 3750mAh battery that could last up to a day on moderate to heavy usage. There is no fast charging support on the phone.

Tecno Camon iClick Quick Review: Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Good-looking
  • Dedicated microSD card Slot
  • Decent battery backup
  • Android 8.1 Oreo
  • Dual SIM Dual VoLTE

Cons

  • Low Display Resolution

The Tecno Camon iClick at Rs. 13,999  looks like a good option for offline buyers. It is one of the better looking selfie-centric phones in the segment, whose case is further strengthened by the presence of a big battery and the latest Android Oreo-based software. The display resolution could have been better, though.

Additionally, the Tecno Camon iClick also comes with one-time screen replacement, 100-day return window, and 13-months of warranty. We will be testing

We will continue testing the overall performance and the cameras and will get to you with a final verdict later.
