TL; DR
  • The ULT Tower 9 and Tower 9AC are Sony’s top-tier party speakers with six drivers that produce 360° surround sound and powerful bass (with two different modes: ULT1 and ULT2).
  • The ULT Field 5 is Sony’s Bluetooth speaker that offers powerful sound in a compact form factor, while the ULT Field 3 is even smaller (and slightly less powerful).
  • Designed to complement the ULT series of speakers, the ULT MIC 1 is optimized for bright, natural voice reproduction.

Sony India has refreshed the ULT Power Sound lineup with a total of five new products. These include two tower speakers, two Bluetooth speakers, and one wireless microphone. All the devices were revealed via an in-person event. There’s a lot of ground to cover, so without any further ado, let’s get started.

Sony ULT Tower 9 & ULT Tower 9AC: Key Features & Price

The ULT Tower 9 and Tower 9AC are Sony’s top-tier party speakers with six drivers that produce 360° surround sound, powerful bass (with two different modes: ULT1 and ULT2), RGB lighting with 23 individual lit zones, karaoke and guitar input support, and connect to your smartphone via Bluetooth v5.3.

Both speakers have built-in handles and a water-resistant top panel. They also provide Sound Field Optimization, a feature that adjusts the sound according to the level of ambient noise in the room.

The primary difference between the Tower 9 and the Tower 9AC is in their power source (and portability).

The Sony Tower 9 features a built-in battery that offers up to 25 hours of playback between charges (a 10-minute charge provides three hours of playback). Hence, you can carry the speaker around with you (perhaps to an event, to a beach trip, etc.).

The ULT Tower 9AC doesn’t have a built-in battery; it relies on AC power, implying that it must be plugged into a power source at all times. Without the battery, the Tower 9AC weighs 28.5 kg (1.1 kg less than the Tower 9).

However, everything else, including the speaker configuration, sound output, and connectivity options, remains the same.

Additional features include Party Connect (you can connect up to 100 compatible Sony speakers together), Stereo Pair (connect two Tower 9 speakers for the sense of true stereo sound), sound customization via the Sound Connect app, Google Fast Pair, and power output (for charging your devices).

Given below are the prices for both models.

  • Sony ULT Tower 9: Rs. 84,990
  • Sony ULT Tower 9AC: Rs. 69,990

Both party speakers should be available via Sony’s official website and other retail channels from August 12, 2025.

Sony ULT Field 5 & ULT Field 3: Key Features & Price

The ULT Field 5 is Sony’s Bluetooth speaker that offers powerful sound in a compact form factor. It includes dual tweeters and passive radiators for a rich, full-range sound. Like the Tower 9 models, the Field 5 also provides two bass modes: ULT1 and ULT2.

Additional features include a 10-band equalizer for sound customization, LED lighting rings that sync with music, up to 25 hours of battery life (with lights and bass modes off), and a rugged design with an IP67 dust and water resistance rating.

When compared to Field 5, Field 3 offers a smaller, directional design suitable for horizontal or vertical placement. It features a single woofer, tweeter, and two passive radiators for powerful sound, but only includes the ULT1 bass mode.

Additional features of the ULT Field 3 include a seven-band equalizer, basic LED lighting (that doesn’t sync with the music), up to 24 hours of battery life (five hours at max volume level and ULT1 mode enabled), and an IP67 rating.

Given below is the pricing of both Bluetooth speakers.

  • Sony ULT Field 5: Rs. 24,990
  • Sony ULT Field 3: Rs. 17,990

With plug-and-play functionality, the ULT MIC 1 costs Rs. 14,990 in India.
