It feels like forever since we all have been awaiting the PS5 launch in the country. Well, with the New Year, Sony India has some good news for its fans. The company has finally announced the launch date of PlayStation 5 in India to be on February 2. And those most eagerly amongst us can pre-book one starting January 12.

Read on for more specifics.

Sony PlayStation 5 India launch details

So, to reiterate, the pre-order window opens from 12 pm on January 12, 2021. You can reserve a unit from premier retail outlets such as Amazon, Flipkart, Croma, Reliance Digital, Games The Shop, Shop at Sony Center, and Vijay Sales.

But, do note that the stocks might be limited as the official statement highlights, the pre-orders will go on until stocks last at these retailers. Some earlier reports by The Mako Reactor (a leading source for everything PS5 and gaming news related) suggests a major portion of the stocks will be with e-commerce giants Amazon and Flipkart. A major chunk of the remaining will be with official Sony-authorized stores in the metro cities. This means your local electronics stores might not have a PS5 on the shelf anytime soon. Not just that, the situation could be even dire for the PS5 Digital Edition, whose availability is considered much lower…or so the reports claim.

Nevertheless, be ready to snag one as soon as the pre-booking starts on the 12th of Jan. And don’t forget! The actual launch date is from February 2nd.

Here is the pricing of both the PS5 models:

PS5 regular variant (the one with the disc drive) is priced at ₹49,990 while the one without a disc, ie the Digital variant carries a price tag of ₹39,990 in India.

And the accessories:

  • a new DualSense Wireless Controller costs ₹5,990
  • the Pulse 3D wireless headset is priced at ₹8,590
  • the PlayStation HD Camera costs ₹5,190
  • the Media Remote comes at ₹2,590
  • the DualSense Charging Station costs ₹2,590
