Sony LinkBuds made a splash after they were released a few months ago. Turns out Sony is all set to launch another TWS dubbed Sony LinkBuds S that will copy the similar yet unusual design of its original model.

Sony’s upcoming LinkBuds S tipped

According to a tweet by tipster @_snoopytech_, the upcoming LinkBuds will serve conventional functions but appear like a cheaper alternative to WF-1000XM4. It reportedly has a model number WF-LSN900 once it goes official and to give a bit of context, the previous iteration had model number WF-L900.

Unlike traditional TWS that have a hole right at the middle of the ear tip for ambient sound to go in, LinkBuds S (along with a few others) uses Ambient Mode which is technically a way around. It uses the microphone to catch the ambient sound and produces the sound in the earbuds mimicking an ambient sound although it hasn’t yet been apt with what actual ambient sound would feel like.

Sony LinkBuds S will have two modes i.e. Ambient Mode and ANC mode. The buds will learn the user’s behavior and predict if ANC or the Ambient Mode has to be active at any given time. The ANC mode on LinkBuds S is expected to be in line with the setup on WF-1000XM4 so at least that’s where it will be lustrous. It will be able to shift between the ANC and Ambient Mode. It will be available in Gold, White, and Black color variants.

Apart from that, LinkBuds S will have a sensor to detect if you are wearing the buds or not. This will allow users to control playback given the fact that the buds don’t have any physical buttons. It also hints that the Sony LinkBuds S likely has gesture controls so that will be a great feature.

Information related to the pricing is not available at the moment although it is likely to be somewhere less than WF-1000XM4 which retails for EUR 280.
