Samsung started the curved display trend back with Samsung Galaxy Note Edge and it has been getting better at it ever since. Turns out reports suggest Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra could do the opposite i.e. reposition itself with a flat display instead of a curved one. The information comes from a reliable tipster Ice Universe according to whom, Galaxy S24 Ultra will opt for a flat display after years of flamboyantly showcasing its curved display.

The tipster adds Galaxy S24 Ultra will be 79mm wide while the Galaxy S23 Ultra stands at 78.1mm. It hints towards a flat display which ultimately takes a larger area width-wise compared to a curved display. The bezels are likely to get thinner too, like the upcoming iPhone 15 series. The purported dimensions on S24 Ultra are 162.3mm x 79mm x 8.6mm. The screen size is at 6.8″ with 3120×1440 pixels resolution with 19.5:9 aspect ratio. S24 Ultra looks pretty wide and tall although it could be just the purported renders, the actual might differ.

Having a flat screen onboard Galaxy S24 Ultra will increase its durability, however, it’s best to take it with a pinch of salt given the fact that we are still a few months away from its reveal in early 2024. A previous report suggested the use of titanium for the frame. This has resulted in ‘one gram’ less bulk weight onboard S24 Ultra compared to S23 Ultra.

For a user, this won’t make any difference, however, Samsung will bank on this opportunity by marketing the use of titanium alloy for the mid-frame. Talking about S24 Ultra, it will be using Grade 5 titanium also deployed on premium iPhones, although, it won’t be the entire phone but just the frame. However, it could affect the pricing a little bit since titanium is relatively more expensive than aluminum (S23 Ultra).
