In an attempt to increase the average revenue per user (ARPU), Indian telecom companies recently increased the prices of their prepaid/postpaid plans. However, the move was met with some criticism and backlash on social media platforms. While the prices of different plans increased at a different rate, plans across the board saw a hike of around 10 to 27 percent.

While the revised prices didn’t affect the annual plan or postpaid users, they did impact those who relied on the most affordable recharge plans. Nonetheless, the leading telecom operator in the country, Reliance Jio, has relaunched its popular Rs. 999 plan. Surprisingly, the plan offers better benefits than before the price hike.

Reliance Jio Rs. 999 Recharge Plan: Validity And Data Allowance

Reliance Jio Rs. 999 recharge plan

After Jio revised its tariff rates, the Rs. 999 recharge plan began to cost Rs. 1,199. However, the company has relaunched the old plan on popular demand. Now, it offers a validity of 98 days instead of 84 days (the validity it provided before the price hike). However, the plan only offers 2GB of data per day, instead of the 3GB data per day initially provided. Hence, the total data allowance happens to be 196GB instead of 252GB.

What’s good is that the plan still offers unlimited 5G data with compatible devices and supported regions. What remains the same is 100 SMS per day and unlimited voice calling. The Rs. 999 recharge plan from Jio compares well with the Rs. 979 recharge plan for Airtel, which offers 2GB of data per day and a free Amazon Prime membership for 56 days.

Vodafone Idea also offers a Rs. 979 recharge plan that is valid for 84 days. The plan, like the others, offers 2GB of data per day. Additional benefits include Bing All Night, Weekend Data Rollover, and Data Delight.
