Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi is set to launch its new A2 series in India on May 19. The company has created a teaser page on its website, revealing the launch date and time along with the tagline “Desh ka Smartphone,” suggesting that the new line-up will be affordable. The teaser page also features images of the phone, revealing its design.

According to the teaser page, the Redmi A2 series will come with a dual camera setup, along with dual LED flash, a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, and a faux leather back. The phone is said to feature an octa-core chipset that promises lag-free performance. The teaser page also suggests that the phone will feature an HD+ screen.

In addition, Redmi has highlighted that the new A2 series will come with Android 13 and a 5000mAh battery, which should provide a good battery life. These features are expected to make the phone a good option for those looking for a budget-friendly smartphone.

The launch of the Redmi A2 series won’t be an India first as the product is already available globally. The Redmi A2 global version is driven by MediaTek Helio G36, an 8-core chipset that was announced on February 13, 2022. The chipset is manufactured using a 12-nanometer process technology and features 4 cores Cortex-A53 at 2200 MHz and 4 cores Cortex-A53 at 1800 MHz, which claims to offer a lag-free performance.

The phone also comes with a dual-camera setup led by an 8MP primary camera, which claims to take stunning photos and videos. Additionally, the Redmi A2 features a RAM expansion feature, which allows you to use up to 2GB of storage as virtual RAM memory to ensure improved multi-tasking and overall performance.

Given the recent teaser from Redmi regarding the A2 Series, it is plausible that the line-up will consist of Redmi A2 and Redmi A2 Plus smartphone models. It is expected that the Indian variant of the Redmi A2 will be identical to its global counterpart. As Redmi has encountered challenges maintaining its market share in India over the past few years, the launch of the A2 Series could prove pivotal in the brand’s ability to retain or possibly even expand its user base in the country.
