Realme 10 Pro Vs Redmi Note 12 Pro: Which one has an edge over the other?

Smartphone giants Realme and Redmi have been arch-rivals for years now and every year, this competition keeps getting fiercer and fiercer. Recently, both Realme and Redmi have launched flagship series smartphones to set a tone for 2023. While Realme launched the Realme 10 Pro Series in India, Redmi has launched the Redmi Note 12 Pro in China and has confirmed the India launch for January 2023.

Although Redmi Note 12 Pro has not arrived in India yet, speculations are rife that it will be priced in the sub-Rs. 20,000 range and be in a tiff competition with the already launched Realme 10 Pro (review). Let us compare every aspect of these two smartphones to try to find out which one is a better buy for its price.

Realme 10 Pro Vs Redmi Note 12 Pro: Design

Realme 10 Pro has a minimalistic design. It doesn’t have a camera island but has two circular camera modules placed on the rear cover with an LED flash on the right. It has flat borders just like the latest iPhone line-ups. It has an all-plastic build with volume rockers and a power button on the right, and a SIM tray, USB Type-C port, speaker, and microphone on the bottom. It weighs 190 grams. The Realme 10 Pro comes in Dark Matter Black, Nebula Blue, and Hyperspace gradient colors.

Coming to Redmi Note 12 Pro also has a decent look and comes in attractive color options. It has a boxy design with flat sides for better grip. The back has a square-shaped camera island with a triple camera setup and an LED flash in the left corner. The volume rockers and power button are on the right and the bottom has a SIM tray, USB Type-C port, speaker, and microphone. It has an IR sensor on the top edge and comes with an IP53 rating for splash and dust resistance. It weighs 187 grams. The Redmi Note 12 Pro comes in Black, White, Blue, and Violet colors.

Result- In terms of the uniqueness of design, Realme 10 Pro has a slight edge.

Realme 10 Pro Vs Redmi Note 12 Pro: Display

The Realme 10 Pro has a 6.72-inch FHD+ IPS LCD panel with a refresh rate of 120Hz, a screen-to-body ratio of 93.76%, 680 nits brightness, DC dimming, and TUV Rheinland low blue light certification. It has a centered punch-hole camera and slim bezels on top and sides.

Meanwhile, the Redmi Note 12 Pro has a superior 6.67-inch OLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, 2400×1080 pixel resolution, 20:9 aspect ratio, 240Hz touch sampling rate, 900 nits brightness, HDR10+, Dolby vision, and more.

Result- Redmi Note 12 Pro clearly has a more advanced display that is good for consuming content.

Realme 10 Pro Vs Redmi Note 12 Pro: Storage & RAM

The Realme 10 Pro comes in 2 storage configurations in India- 6GB RAM+128GB storage and 8GB RAM+128GB storage, while the Redmi Note 12 Pro comes in various storage options in China-

6GB RAM+128GB storage, 8GB RAM+128GB storage, 8GB RAM+256GB storage, 12GB RAM+256GB storage. India is also expected to get at least 3-4 storage options.

Result- Redmi Note 12 Pro is better as it gives more storage options to choose from.

Realme 10 Pro Vs Redmi Note 12 Pro: Performance

The Realme 10 Pro is powered by a mid-segment Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 chipset while the Redmi Note 12 Pro is powered by the new MediaTek Dimensity 1080 chipset. While the Realme 10 Pro runs Android 13 with Realme UI 4.0, the Redmi Note 12 Pro runs Android 12-based MIUI 13.

Result- Although Realme 10 Pro comes with Android 13, Redmi Note 12 Pro has a very powerful chipset than its competitor, so it has an edge.

Realme 10 Pro Vs Redmi Note 12 Pro: Camera

The Realme 10 Pro has a dual camera setup at the back with a Samsung HM6 108MP primary sensor and a 2MP additional lens with dual LED flash. There is a 16MP selfie camera as well.

Coming to the Redmi Note 12 Pro has a triple camera setup on the back with a 50MP Sony IMX766 primary sensor with OIS, an 8MP ultrawide sensor, and a 2MP macro lens. This one also has a 16MP selfie lens.

Result- Redmi Note 12 Pro has a superior camera setup.

Realme 10 Pro Vs Redmi Note 12 Pro: Battery

Realme 10 Pro and Redmi Note 12 Pro have the same battery capacities. Both smartphones pack a 5000mAh battery. However, there is a difference between the charging speeds as the Realme 10 Pro comes with 33W fast charging while the Redmi Note 12 Pro features 67W fast charging.

Result- Although the battery is the same, there is a difference between charging speeds which makes Redmi Note 12 Pro superior.

Realme 10 Pro Vs Redmi Note 12 Pro: Connectivity

The Realme 10 Pro features WiFi 802.11, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, USB OTG, A-GPS, GLONASS, and a mobile hotspot. The Redmi Note 12 Pro comes with 5G, 4G LTE, USB Type-C, WiFi, and A-GPS, with GLONASS, NFC, Bluetooth, and Mobile Hotspot.

Result- Redmi Note 12 Pro has more connectivity options.

Realme 10 Pro Vs Redmi Note 12 Pro: Price

The Realme 10 Pro is available in 2 storage options in the Indian market. The 6GB+128GB variant is priced at Rs. 18,999 while the 8GB+128GB model is priced at Rs. 19,999.

Coming to the Redmi Note 12 Pro, China has got 4 variants to offer. The 6GB/128GB variant is priced at Rs. 19,500 while the highest 12GB/512GB storage model is priced at Rs. 23,900.

Results- We are yet to see which storage options for Redmi Note 12 Pro come to India, but if they will be similar to the China models, then Redmi Note 12 Pro will offer more storage at aggressive prices.

Realme 10 Pro Vs Redmi Note 12 Pro: Conclusion

While both Realme 10 Pro and Redmi Note 12 Pro offer premium specs at affordable under 25k prices, the only aspect where Realme device has an edge over its competitor is the design. If you want a smartphone with a different design, then Realme 10 pro can be your choice. Otherwise, the Redmi Note 12 Pro has an edge over the Realme 10 pro in terms of display, charging, performance and cameras. So, the only reason why one would buy Realme 10 Pro over the Redmi Note 12 Pro can be the unique design or love for Realme as a brand, other Redmi Note 12 Pro should be your choice.
