Close on the heels of R17, its pro version, the R17 Pro, surfaced on benchmarking platform Geekbench. The rumored R17 Pro employs Snapdragon 710 chipset, which is quite similar to the Snapdragon 670 chipset that powers the R17.

Although S710 chipset’s efficiency is well known in advance, Snapdragon 670 is relatively new in the market. Which means, there is very little information on Snapdragon 670 chipset’s performance statistics.

R17 pro will come with a similar 8GB RAM, but there could be more storage on board. Although, it is less likely that the base variant could feature more than 128GB, depending on the region. TENNA, however, claims that the RAM would be 6GB.

In terms of design, the handset should be similar to the Oppo 17 that went official yesterday. The official data on Oppo R17 lists edge-to-edge display with, what Oppo terms as,  waterdrop notch. The 6.4-inch panel has FHD+ resolution, 19:9 aspect ratio, Gorilla Glass 6 protection, and 91.5 percent screen-to-body ratio.

For photography, the R17 features a 16MP+5MP camera combo on the rear, and AI-portrait mode supporting 25MP (f/2.0 aperture) selfie shooter. Oppo’s proprietary VOOC fast charging assists its 3,500mAh battery.

Additional features like in-display fingerprint scanner (first time in an OPPO phone), 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS/ A-GPS, and USB Type-C will also be present in Oppo R17.

A flash sale for Oppo R17 is scheduled for this Saturday, that is 18th of August, 2018. There is no confirmation as of yet about the official announcement on the R17’s Pro model. This decision could be a result of Oppo’s apprehension about the pro model stealing the limelight from the basic variant.
