With rumors around the OnePlus 11 heating up recently, OnePlus has announced a sudden event on the weekend. The event is set up for 17th December 2022 at 2:30 PM China Standard Time (it will be 12 noon in IST) and what will happen is a mystery. With many devices speculated, there is no confirmation through the event poster that the event will or will not tease the OnePlus 11.

The event was announced on the Chinese microblogging website ‘Weibo’. The announcement contained a poster with a date and a tagline that translates to “New direction, New action, New future”. Now, this could mean that OnePlus is revealing more devices other than its flagship as the post directly says that we’ll be seeing new products.

With the habitual practice of OnePlus revealing its flagship in big grandeur events, it’s hard to believe that the Chinese brand will subtly slip the phone in. In November, a post on the company’s Weibo account mentioned that the flagship will be using the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 in it. Now, if the manufacturer can post separately about an SoC, then the official teaser will be something spectacular.

It’s also expected that OnePlus will release the flagship OnePlus 11 in China first and we can subdue the global release much later. And confirming an event just 3 days prior to the launch of its masthead carrier is not something that the brand is used to doing. The most we could expect is the teaser revealing the launch date, price, and specifications as confirmed by the manufacturer of the OnePlus 11.

With the expected return of Alert Slider, the OnePlus 11 is rumored to don a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, a 6.7-inch QHD+ AMOLED display, a 5000 mAH battery, and 100 W charging. Looks like we will have to wait for the weekend event either to reveal the mystery or the big package.
