Amazon Music Launched In India: Now Stream Desi and International Music on Web, Android, & iOS Devices

Amazon has silently launched its music streaming service Prime Music in India. The music streaming service will fall under the umbrella of Amazon Prime membership. If you already have the Amazon Prime Membership you can now access prime music via music.amazon.in or by downloading the Prime Music app on Android or iOS. Up until now, Amazon Music service was only limited to Amazon smart Echo speakers.

When you open the Amazon Music app it asks you to choose your preferred music language from several options including Hindi, English Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Bengali, Bhojpuri, Gujarati, and Rajasthani. It will curate a suggestion list accordingly. If you already own an Amazon Echo Player it will showcase recently played tracks and playlist. It also comes with Alexa for voice control.

Amazon Prime Music Price in India

As of now, Amazon is only charging Rs 999 for its prime services which includes Prime Videos, Prime Music and free shipping for prime products on Amazon.in. It is valid for 12 months from the date of subscription. If you compare its price with Apple Music and Google Play Music you will find it is comparatively cheaper. Amazon Prime effective monthly price comes out to be Rs. 83.25, whereas Apple Music is priced at Rs. 120 per month, and Google Play Music charges Rs. 99 per month. This is not including the other benefits besides music that prime membership entails.

Amazon Prime Music library vs Google Play Music & Apple Music

Amazon Music hasn’t released its catalog size, whereas Apple Prime Music and Google Music boast a library of about 40-45 million songs.  Outside India, Amazon claims to have about 2 million songs catalog for Prime Music Users and 40 million songs under Music Unlimited service.

When scrolling through the Amazon Prime music library in India, one can easily notice latest international albums like Black Panther Singles from Rozzi, Bruno Mars, Lanco and other. Talking about the Bollywood Hindi songs, new albums like Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety and Raid are listed as hot and trending.
