New Mi Band 1S Can Track Heart Rate; 20,000mAh Mi Power Bank Announced

The next iteration of Mi Band, the Mi Band 1S, is now official. Nope, there is no display and yes it is still ultra-affordable at $16, but the biggest upgrade is the addition of heart rate sensor. Rest of the features which made the last gen model click stay put.

The Mi Band can monitor your activities, track your sleep, gently wake you up, unlock your phone when on your wrist, vibrate to notify of incoming calls and messages, and is IP67 water resistant certified. The 45mAH battery also remains same. Since it lasted for about a month on our Mi Band, you need not worry even taking into account that the new Heart-rate sensor will take its toll.

Though the new Mi Band 1S shows design consistency with its predecessor, dimensions have changed. This means you won’t be able to use same straps. In China, the new Mi Band costs around $16.

Xiaomi also added another Power-bank to its portfolio. The new 20,000 mAh portable charger. This new entrant has ABS plastic body instead of Anodized aluminum casing, and perhaps that helps keep the weight in check (338g Vs 350g on 16,000mAh model).

Batteries inside are manufactured by LG and Panasonic, and Xiaomi claims 93 percent conversion rate. The new Power bank supports rapid charging. You can charge it to 11000mAh capacity in just 3 hours. The output port can also deliver up to 3.6 A current to facilitate fast charging. The 20000mAh Mi Power bank costs Approx $23.5 in China. There is no word on global availability yet.

Besides the new power-bank and Mi Band, the company also introduced new Mi Power Strip with 5 power sockets and 3 USB ports, which will be selling on Mi.com for just $6 starting November 11. The handset will be available in India for 11,000 INR.
