Motorola launched a few new smartphones over a couple of weeks now. Today, it officially adds two new smartphones with the Chinese launch. Successor to Moto X30, the Moto X40 embraces Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC with a 165Hz OLED panel. We also have a Moto G53 with an unknown Snapdragon SoC targeting a budget segment.
Moto X40 and Moto G53 Pricing and Availability
According to the pricing for the dup, the Moto X40 starts at RMB 3,399 for the base 8GB+128GB variant which is roughly INR 40,400/-. Getting your hands on the 8GB+256GB and 12GB+256GB variants are priced at RMB 3,999 and RMB 4,299 respectively. It loosely converts into INR 47,600/- and INR 51,100/- respectively. You have color options to choose from – Blue and Black.
Moto G53, on the other hand, is a budget-focused smartphone priced at RMB 899 (or INR 10,700/-) for the base 4GB+128GB variant. The higher 8GB+128GB gets the price tag of RMB 1,099 (or INR 13,100/-).
Motorola Moto X40 Specifications & Features
The premium cadre Moto X40 is a powerful successor to X30 Pro except for the fact that it is summoned as Moto X40. The device draws the power from the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC under the hood. It comes along with an 11-layer setup with a vapor chamber measuring 3,002mm2.
There’s up to 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage and 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM as well. Adreno 740 GPU handles that graphics so that should even the most resource-hungry games run smoothly without breaking a sweat. There’s almost stocked Android 13-powered MyUI 5.0 handling the software part onboard.
With a 6.7” 1080×2400 pixels resolution, the display carries a 10-bit panel and HDR10+ support with DC dimming onboard. Moto X40 has got Motorola’s first-ever 165Hz refresh rate that gives a much smoother response even when compared to phones with 120H and 144Hz panels. The display is curved with minimal bezels giving a perspective of an edge-to-edge display. Additionally, there’s an under-the-display fingerprint scanner, unlike predecessors that had side-mounted solutions.
Moto X40 brings onboard a rich triple rear camera setup. There’s a 50MP primary snapper with a 1/1.56” sensor size, OIS, and 4-in-1 pixel binning, among others. It is flanked by a 50MP ultrawide sensor that gets a field of view of 117°.
Motorola has added autofocus support with the UW snapper giving it the capability to shoot macro as well. Finally, there’s a 12MP portrait snapper with 2x zoom and a 1.22 micron pixel size. There’s a tiny punch-hole at the front housing a giant 60MP snapper so that’s all about the camera tech.
Moving on, we have the battery tech. The phone embraces a 4,600mAh battery good enough to take you through a day even on super heavy usage. Feel the need to amp up the juice? You get a 125W wired and 15W wireless charging tech to get the juices flowing. At its max capacity, all you have to watch is a song on YouTube, and bingo, you have a full battery.
It’s a flagship phone and thus, Motorola has left no stone unturned. The phone carries an official IP68 rating that keeps it secure against water and dust with warranty coverage onboard. X40 uses a 7000-series aluminum mid-frame with Gorilla Glass Victus at the back that makes up the phone’s structure. Of course, there’s a curved glass on top. The whole contraption weighs just 199 grams which is almost the same as that of the G53, a budget-focused phone launched alongside the X40.
Finally, you have a bunch of connectivity functionalities. It includes by not limited to dual SIM, Bluetooth, dual-band WiFi 6e, USB-C, NFC, 5G, dual-band GPS, and a few more things.
Motorola Moto G53 Specifications & Features
Moto G53 is a budget-category smartphone targeting a price range of less than RMB 1,100 for its highest variant. The phone embraces a 6.52” HD+ 120Hz refresh rate LCD panel with a punch-hole at the dead center of the top bezel housing the front 8MP snapper. There’s a 50MP unit at the back in a dual camera contraption co-sharing the space with a 2MP lens.
The phone uses an unknown Snapdragon octa-core chipset that we will gain insights on soon. There’s up to 8GB RAM and 128GB of storage that you can expand further. Finally, Android 13-powered MyUX is powering the device as its software.
On the battery front, we have a 5,000mAh pack flanked with 18W charging support. Unfortunately, the in-retail charger has a 10W cap that means you’ll have to buy a 18W charger. The phone carries a dimension of 162.7 x 74.6 x 8.1mm with a curb weight of 183 grams which makes it lighter than the iPhone 11 but again, both phones are poles apart. There’s a 3.5mm headphone jack onboard as well so that’s taken care of.
Some other features that you will find with G53 are 5G, Wi-Fi 6, a USB Type-C port, GPS, Bluetooth, and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner among others.
