Finally, Motorola X Style has arrived in India on Tuesday, and what was really exciting at the media frenzy event was the revelation of pricing of this new smartphone. The Moto X Style smartphone starts at 29,999 INR for 16GB version and 31,999 INR for 32 GB version. Ever since the arrival of the Moto G first generation, Motorola  certainly has been reaping fruits of its impressive specification and aggressive pricing strategy.

The Chinese smartphone manufacturer has once again trusted on Flipkart as its exclusive e-commerce partner. Now with the launch of Motorola X Style and Google’s upcoming launch of Nexus 5X on 13th October, flagship phones battle is certainly heating up in India. Here’s over initial experience with Moto X Style.

Motorola with this phone has made some serious effort to justify its name as X Style. The new phone will remind you of 2nd generation Moto X or even more of Moto X Play for its front look and feel. But the moment we laid our eyes on it, we could see that this is much more premium.

The designers at Motorola, have kept metallic side edges thin and on rear side, have added a subtle curve in the middle to ensure firm grip. Unlike Moto X Play, which arrived in India last month, it comes with a fixed back panel. Rugged texture on the back panel adds to its looks and at the same time ensures that the new Moto X won’t easily slip from your hand.

The ‘X’ factor in this phone has to be its gorgeous 5.7-inch QuadHD TFT LCD display which comes with water repellent nano-coating to protect against inadvertent water spillage. The display carries a 1440×2560 resolution with a density of 520ppi. This is the first time Motorola is using LCD instead of AMOLED in Moto X series, and we have to admit, the display feels better. The screen offers really sharp images, punchy colors and is lined by very narrow bezels, which make it easily manageable in spite of the large display size.

The display also offered great viewing angles with limited outdoor usage. The front of the phone also features two stereo speakers which produce a loud and clear sound.

Under the hood of X Style, it consists a powerful 1.8 GHz hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor coupled with Adreno 418 GPU and 3GB RAM. Interestingly, Google has also trusted the same SoC for its upcoming phone Nexus 5X. In our short yet sweet date with Moto X Style, the phone performed really well. However, it will be a bit premature if start judging the performance on the basis on our limited usage. However, on our first experience, we tried a couple of games and GPU repose was top notch. After 5 to 10 minutes of gaming, the handset did feel a bit warm.

The Moto X Style comes with almost stock Android 5.1.1 Lollipop and will soon be updated to Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Motorola’s X key features: the Assist, Actions, Voice and Display are placed under one Moto app as is the usual scheme. The Moto X Style has a single tray at the top – for both SIM cards (4G + 4G) and a microSD card expansion port that supports storage up to 128GB.

The Moto X Style houses almost identical camera specifications, as its economical sibling the Moto X Play. The primary shooter gets a 21-megapixel sensor with autofocus and Dual LED (dual tone) flash. There’s also a flash enabled 5-megapixel camera at the front. Like most Motorola new age phones, image quality on this new flagship baby also appears to be great. The Camera is also capable of recording videos in 4K resolution.

The Moto X Style draws juice from its 3,000mAh battery which is non-removable and comes with the fast charging option. It can give you 8 hours of battery life from a 15-minute charge, claims Motorola. The Moto X Style is a dualSIM smartphone that supports Universal 4G LTE  and NFC connectivity.

With an aggressive pricing, impressive design, and top-notch specs, the Moto X Style could go on to become a party spoiler for Google’s Nexus 5X. The Moto X Style will be available for pre-order starting from October 14. It will be sold exclusively on Flipkart.
