Moto X Play is an affordable flagship phone from Motorola which was today unleashed in India for an awesome starting price of 18,499 INR. Now the words affordable and flagship don’t blend very well, but in price sensitive Indian market, that is exactly what several companies are attempting – and we have to admit – rather efficiently.

Moto X Play

Design consistency with new Moto G 2015 and the high end Moto X Style is noticeable. On the inside, the Moto X Play might not boast of top of the line specs, but packs enough heat to take on the adjacent competition.

The display is 5.5 Inches in size with very narrow bezels, and this time Motorola has chosen to go with IPS LCD display rather than over saturated AMOLED panels, and this is something we appreciate. Although, for those who savor colors that pop, a software feature is present which can make your display more ‘Vibrant’.

On the inside, Moto X Play houses the mid-range Snapdragon 615 octa-core chip, backed by 2GB RAM and 16GB/32GB of internal storage. This time around, Motorola bends some rules and makes provision for a MicroSD card slot.

Like always, Motorola aims to deliver near stock Android experience (Android 5.1.1 Lollipop) with some valuable features like Moto Display, Moto Voice (which brought some embarrassment for Motorola at India launch event), Moto Assist, etc., added on top.

For photography, the rear camera includes a 21MP camera with 5p lens, blue light filter, dual tone LED flash and can record 1080p videos. A 5MP selfie snapper is also present on the front side. You can quickly launch the camera app using a twist gesture (If that sticks).

Other features include 4G LTE support on both SIM cards, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, WiFi, GPS and a massive 3630mAh battery with fast charging supported. Motorola claims you can get 8 hours of usage with just 15 minutes of charge!

Moto X Play will be available on Flipkart starting today midnight for 18,999 INR (16GB) and 19,999 INR (32GB) starting midnight tonight. For one thing, Motorola has got the price right.
