Motorola’s Moto Gxx series has been among the best in terms of affordable smartphones in India and abroad and it seems like Motorola is adding yet another smartphone to the mix. Dubbed as Moto G85 – a successor to last year’s Moto G84, the leaked renders thanks to the courtesy of @EVLeaks give a hint on what the upcoming smartphone will bring to the table.

When it comes to design, the flat display onboard G84 is replaced by a curved display aboard G85 which looks fine to me. Another notable design change is with the back panel. Instead of going for an age-old camera bump, recent Moto phones have switched to a single back panel that accommodates a camera bump and raises a few millimeters above the back panel. If you can’t seem to wrap around this idea, check out Moto Edge 50 Pro and you’ll understand what the design changes are all about.

Keeping the design leaks aside, let’s delve into what the upcoming Moto G85 brings to the table related to hardware and performance.

Moto G85 5G leaks hints nothing more than upgraded design

Turns out there are a few variations in leaks based on which, we could gather that Moto G85 could come up with Snapdragon 4 Gen 3 or Snapdragon 6s Gen 3. Turns out the latter is an unannounced processor at the moment which means we don’t know its performance just yet. However, given the fact that we already have the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1, we could see how inferior it will be compared to the Snapdragon 695 SoC that powers Moto G84.

Even the Snapdragon 4 Gen 3 SoC which is nothing but a repackaged Snapdragon 4 Gen 2, may not stand a chance compared to the mighty Snapdragon 695 that was originally released in late 2021. Yep, it’s that old and yet, outshines the majority of Snapdragon 4 series and Snapdragon 6 series processors.

Apart from that, the Moto G85 seems to use similar specs as the Moto G84. It includes a 6.67” 120Hz OLED FHD+ panel, 8GB RAM, 256GB storage, a 5000mAh battery plus 33W wired charging. On the optics front, we have a 32MP selfie clubbed with a 50MP + 9MP ultrawide shooter if everything goes in line with the Moto G84 5G.

Moto G85 5G is expected to arrive globally in June including India. The price tags and almost every other information remains shrouded in a bit of mist so we will have to wait until there’s some concrete information available about the same.
