Qualcomm is working on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, and we can soon get to see the new Prodigy. Nonetheless, Mediatek has also announced a new processor, MediaTek Dimensity’s upcoming SoC, to have a neck-to-neck battle against the Snapdragon offering. According to an official announcement by MediaTek and Weibo, the next-generation flagship Dimensity processor will pack an ARM Cortex-X4 CPU core, ARM Immortalis Mali-G720 graphics processing unit (GPU), and Cortex-A720 CPU core.

this is not going to happen for the first time that a MediaTek Dimensity processor will ship with the latest GPU and CPU. This clearly means that the upcoming MediaTek SoC, possibly Dimensity 9300 chipset, will compete directly with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and also give tough competition to the same. The Taiwanese chipmaker also said that the upcoming processor would consist of a groundbreaking architecture, along with better multitasking and boosted performance in highly multi-threaded games and applications.

What can we expect to see in the future?

MediaTek has not revealed a lot of details regarding the upcoming processor and its configurations. Speculations are that the processor will also not have the little cores and will only get the major ones. It is also being said that in the future, the processors will also ditch little cores and rely on three larger ones for high-octane performance.

One thing which we are already sure of is that the MediaTek Dimensity 9300, or whatever the SoC will be called, will ship with decent performance upgrades. However, the road to outclassing Qualcomm Snapdragon is not an easy one. MediaTek will be supposed to have the upper hand over the Snapdragon SoC in terms of everything like camera prowess and regular performance.
